Small Businesses Get Big Boost With New Health and Safety E-course

HAMILTON, ON (June 25, 2008) –The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) has developed an e-course for small businesses to help them develop health and safety programs. This one-hour course introduces owners and managers to potential hazards and preventive measures which may occur in small businesses including: ergonomics, chemical hazards, and fire protection.  It offers practical information on how to develop a health and safety program including emergency planning and hazard management.

"Good health and safety practices make good business sense,” said Dr. P.K. Abeytunga, CCOHS Vice President and Director General.  “They protect workers from the suffering caused by accidents and poor health and they help businesses boost productivity, minimize absenteeism, reduce costs, and retain staff”.

Health & Safety For Small Business also features case studies, quizzes, an “ask a question” option and a final exam. All e-courses by CCOHS are available in English and French. They are developed by experts in the field and reviewed by labour, employer and government representatives.

More information about Health & Safety For Small Business, pricing and how to register is available on the CCOHS website: www.ccohs.ca/products/courses/smallBusiness/.
